Value Delivered
We provided mechanical design-build and engineering solutions for the Central Health Services building at San Quentin State Prison.
The building was situated within the prison’s maximum-security perimeter, requiring us to maintain stringent work protocols. We helped deliver the project on time and within budget, and it ultimately achieved LEED Gold certification.
Client Objectives
The client needed a mechanical contractor with specialty expertise working in both medical environments as well as high security facilities.
Solutions
We provided complete design-build HVAC and plumbing services across the new five-story, 131,993-square-foot health care facility.
Our work covered a number of complex facility environments, including areas for:
- Outpatient clinical and specialty clinical services
- Licensed inpatient care
- Outpatient housing care
- Pharmacy services
- Medical records housing and administration
- Inmate receive and release
Additionally, the project also included significant amounts of infrastructure and site improvements, demolition of existing buildings, and seismic upgrades for two historic structures.
Client Background
Operated by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, San Quentin State Prison occupies more than 275 acres and houses over 3,000 inmates.
